Project Overview:
Marian Hang, Director of Design Visual Merchandising at K18, enlisted my help to create a lively, fun, and retro-themed gift set for their World Tour. The package was designed to delight staff and clients, featuring a specially designed T-shirt, water bottle, and sticks.
Creative Challenge:
The main goal was to develop a design that reflected K18’s vibrant, retro brand personality and resonated with a global audience. The challenge was to infuse this playful and nostalgic spirit into every element of the gift set, especially the T-shirt, which required a dynamic front and back design.
Design Process:
Drawing on the energetic vibe of K18, the initial concept incorporated classic retro motifs with a fresh, modern twist. After reviewing the initial sketch, Marian requested a variety of lettering styles, highlighting her appreciation for the free-flowing scripts from my previous personal works. I responded with multiple lettering designs, which added a bespoke, artistic flair to the project.
Final Design & Client Feedback:
The completed T-shirt featured distinct designs on both the front and back, each side complementing the other while standing out in its own right. The front showcased bold, vibrant lettering that captured the tour’s essence, while the back reinforced the message with a creative graphical layout that tied the retro theme together. Marian was exceptionally pleased with the final design, praising its unique and engaging aesthetic that perfectly captured the spirit of the tour. The project's success was underscored when I received a gift set myself, a token of K18’s satisfaction and gratitude.
Outcome:
The T-shirt and packaging designs were a hit, perfectly embodying the fun and energy of the K18 Hair World Tour. This project highlighted the importance of detailed, thoughtful design work in enhancing brand identity and creating memorable experiences for clients and staff alike.
